Dear Senator [name], Australia is in no position right now to pursue ambitious carbon reduction targets because we have neither the available technology, or in the case of nuclear, the fortitude, to replace our current dependence on coal. Neither wind nor solar power can provide affordable base-load electricity. The introduction of an emissions trading scheme before the development of a new low emissions technology will simply force Australian jobs overseas. It will cost and it won't pay! Please senator, think again.
